Privacy policy

The short version

LingoWeave's free tier works entirely on your own device — nothing is ever sent anywhere. If you choose to sign in for cross-device sync, we store only your email address, your word-bank history, and your settings. We never see the content of the pages you browse, and we don't sell data or run any advertising or tracking.

What we collect, if you sign in

Signing in is entirely optional and only used for cross-device sync. Accounts, sign-in, and sessions are handled entirely by Clerk, our authentication provider — we never see or store a password, and we don't run any sign-in code or session logic ourselves. If you sign in:

• Your account details — your email address and authentication state, held by Clerk on our behalf. We only ever receive your Clerk user ID, not your password or any sign-in credentials.
• Your word-bank history and settings — the words you've been shown (in English and your target language) and the dates you saw them, plus which sites you've turned LingoWeave off on, so this carries over if you use LingoWeave on another device. Stored against your Clerk user ID, in our own database.

What we never see

Word substitution happens entirely inside your own browser. The text of the pages you visit, your browsing history, and anything you type is never read, logged, or sent to us — signed in or not. We also never see your password or sign-in credentials — those are handled entirely by Clerk.

Who else processes it

We use a small number of infrastructure providers to run LingoWeave: Clerk for accounts, sign-in, and session management, and Turso and Vercel to host our database and backend. Each processes data on our behalf under their own security practices. When paid plans go live, checkout will be handled entirely by a third-party payment processor — we won't see or store your card details ourselves.

Your rights

You can use LingoWeave's free tier without ever creating an account. If you do sign in, you can permanently delete your account and everything tied to it — your email, word-bank history, and settings — at any time, from your account page (open it from the extension's Settings tab, under Account). Changes to this policy

If anything material changes about what we collect or how we use it, we'll update this page — the date at the top always reflects the current version.
